The POWERBALL© game provides you with an opportunity to try your chances with the West Virginia Lottery.
You can get started by picking up a POWERBALL© jackpot play slip from any authorized West Virginia Lottery retailer. Or you can even opt to play online through the official West Virginia Lottery POWERBALL website, where you’ll find regular jackpot games.
Each play slip contains five play panels labeled A to E, allowing you to make up to five individual plays on a single slip. Each play costs $2.
To enter a drawing, be sure to purchase your ticket before 9:59 PM ET on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
How to play POWERBALL© at a Retail Location
It’s never been easier to play drawing games online. Once you’ve made your account with the West Virginia Lottery, follow this step-by-step guide to try your chances:
1. Fill out panel A
Select five numbers from one to 69 in the top section of the panel. Be sure to mark your choices clearly, but remember to avoid using red ink, as this may invalidate your ticket.
2. Choose your POWERBALL© number
In the bottom section of your ticket, pick one number from one to 26 as your POWERBALL© number.
3. Use the Quick Pick option
If you’d like numbers selected randomly, you can choose to mark the ‘Quick Pick’ (QP) box on your ticket. This means both your main numbers and your POWERBALL© number will be randomly selected for you.
4. Opt for Multi-Draw
You can also participate in multiple consecutive draws by selecting the ‘Multi-Draw’ option on your ticket. Choose between three, six, 12, 15, 18, or 36 consecutive draws.
5. Add Power Play
There’s also the Power Play option, which lets you multiply non-jackpot winnings by two, three, four, five, or 10 times.
The Match 5 prize is doubled, while the Grand Prize remains unchanged. This optional feature costs an additional $1 per play, so you’ll need to mark the corresponding box on your play slip if you wish to add the Power Play option.
How to Play Online
STEP 1. Select Buy Now
Select one of the following options to purchase Powerball tickets online. Once you’ve made your selection, select “ADD TO CART”.

○ Select one of the following to have your numbers randomly selected:
■ $9 (3 plays with POWERPLAY©)
■ $15 (5 plays with POWERPLAY©)
■ $30 (10 plays with POWERPLAY©)
■ $6 (3 plays)
■ $10 (5 plays)
■ $20 (10 plays)
- USE FAVORITE PURCHASE
○ Populate your Shopping Cart with a previously saved and purchased set of tickets.
- PICK MY NUMBERS
○ You can create your tickets by selecting five white ball numbers from 1 to 69 and a single red Powerball number from 1 to 26.
STEP 2. Review your Shopping Cart
You can review your shopping cart after selecting “ADD TO CART” or by selecting the cart icon at the top right corner.
For your Powerball tickets, you will have a series of optional add-ons:
- Add Power Play?
○ For $1.00 more per ticket, toggle “Yes” and add the POWERPLAY©, which could increase your non-jackpot prize by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or 10X*.
- Auto-Renew?
○ Automatically purchase tickets every two weeks until you cancel the auto-renewal. Sign up once by toggling “Yes” for auto-renewal.**
- Add to my favorite numbers
○ Check this box to add your set of ticket(s) to your Favorites. Populate your Shopping Cart with saved, purchased (sets of) tickets next time you choose “USE FAVORITE PURCHASE.”

STEP 4. Purchase your tickets.
- Select CHECKOUT to proceed to payment.
STEP 5. Look up your tickets.
- Once your purchase is complete, you can look up your tickets by selecting your profile icon in the top right corner.
- Select “My Account” and “My Upcoming Draws” in the Draw Games section to review your numbers and the drawing times.
You will automatically receive winning alerts about any prizes you have won next time you sign in with your West Virginia Lottery account. You can also check for drawing results in the Past Draws section in My Account.
Submit And Check Your Ticket
Once your play slip is complete, you’ll need to submit your ticket. You can do this by submitting it online or giving it to the clerk at your chosen West Virginia Lottery retailer.
Here, you’ll receive a printed ticket with your numbers and any additional options you’ve chosen to play, such as Power Play. Be sure to keep your ticket safe, as it’s your proof of purchase.
To check your numbers, you can watch the POWERBALL drawing on local television or check the West Virginia Lottery website to see if your numbers match.
The Lottery is drawn every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, and with the ability to check your numbers online, it’s never been easier!
